When I unboxed my first serger I took one look at it and was terrified. 😰 Threading it looked like it would take a PHD, figuring out the tension seemed like it would take months to actually understand, and I had no clue what differential feed even meant.
I finally figured it all out (the hard way!) and want to teach you the shortcuts it took me way too long to figure out, so you can get your serger up and creating in a matter of days!
I'm a mom of five, a lifelong maker, and the founder of Mother Sews Best, where I help women sew clothing that fits, feels good, and makes them proud.

Do I already need to know how to sew?
If you already know how to use a sewing machine you will catch on to using a serger very quickly, but you can join us even if you are a beginner or have never sewed before, I'll be walking you through every step!
How long will I have access to the materials?
The videos will be available until May 20, 2026, but the pattern is yours to keep forever!
When is Serger Week happening?
The challenge runs May 11–15, 2026 and the live calls are at 12p EST
What does it cost?

What if I fall behind?
No problem! You'll have access to the videos for a limited time after the week ends so you can catch up if needed.
Is there support if I get stuck?
Absolutely. Our team is active in the Facebook group throughout the week to answer questions, give feedback, and help you troubleshoot anything that comes up. PLUS we are hosting live Q&A calls to provide extra support!
Do I need a sewing machine?
No! You can do every step of the projects on your serger!
What if I can't join live each day?
No problem at all! Daily lessons will be available inside the Facebook Group and emailed to you, so you can watch whenever works for you. All the sessions will be recorded and available until May 20th!
Where does it take place?
Inside a private Facebook group just for participants. That's where you'll find all the videos, daily prompts, community encouragement, and giveaway details.
What if I don't have Facebook?
You can still participate, you just won't have access to the community. I'll email links to the videos every day if you don't have a facebook account.
How much fabric will I need?
It depends on which length you choose and your size. Here's a list to help you determine how much fabric you need. The twist headband can be made from excess fabric from your set, so no need to order extra for this! A more detailed breakdown of fabric requirements is in the pattern instructions.
